Strictly Come Peace Hospice - Rock Challenge

On Friday 17th February Kings Langley School participated in Strictly Come Peace Hospice performing a mini version of our Rock Challenge which we are preparing to show case in Stevenage on Wednesday. We did this event to raise money for an excellent cause and also as a warm up to what we will be doing on Wednesday. The evening included acts that competed following the theme and style of strictly come dancing, as well as acts who were not competing just guests such as Moon Glow, Rock choir and Kings Langley Rock challenge. I am not sure of the exact amount of money the event raised all I know is every year they do it a lot of money is raised!

We arrived at Watford Collesium at 6 o'clock to warm up, not realizing how big the auditorium was and how many people we would be performing to! This got everyone very excited and I couldn't wait to get up onto that stage! It was our time to rehearse and everyone was actually very nervous, I think it is because how professional we had to be as we were special guests and we didn't want to let our school down. We rehearsed twice and each time I think we did very well, much better than expected as this was our first time of properly doing it so it was a shock too all of us (including our teachers) as in rehearsals we haven't put in that full effort.

Once our run through was over and we were used to the stage and how it is going to be in the evening we made our way to our changing room. It was time to get ready! Part of the evening I couldn't wait for as I love doing stage make up and hair. Everyone was dressed in all black, with big bold makeup, and crazy funky hair!
Here is a picture of me Alice and Charlotte all ready for the evening to begin!

Our school was opening the second half so we were waiting for the interval to end. But as we where waiting a special guest came to visit us.. It was Chico, everyone was so excited when we saw him and a lot of pictures where taken. This gave me even more excitement to get up onto that stage as I knew Chico would be watching!!

Here is picture with Chico before the show began!

Once Chico had left everyone had to calm down a bit and prepare ourselves for our performance! The time had come and Kings Langley School had been called, I was so nervous!! But at the same time couldn't wait to perform. We quietly made our way onto the stage and slowly got into our positions, everyone was very nervous and didn't really talk much as we had to focus on what we were about to do. The man called 'Stand by on stage' as soon as I heard this my heart started beating even faster and everyone got into their opening positions. Our music began and the lights came on, It was our time to shine!!! We did our performance and everyone put so much effort in! It was great, I couldn't believe how well it went. It has made me even more excited for the actual Rock Challenge! Everyone got such a buzz whilst performing, and we were all so happy with how well the performance went.  All I can now say is.. BRING ON ROCK CHALLENGE.

Here is a picture of everyone who took part in the performance!

  1. Ahhhhh nice pictures Myri (despite me looking about 50 years old!!) A really well written blog entry and demonstrates your commitment to performance and gathering evidence of performing in different performing arts venues and shows. A great cause too and you did us all proud! BRING IT ON for Wednesday!
